Christoph is a former filmmaker and support worker in prisons, care homes and homelessness centres. Between 1998-1009 he worked as a writer, director or producer on six short films, three documentaries and four feature films, including on projects in India, Kyrgyzstan, Xinjiang and Israel. He also worked for two years as a film critic for the Times Literary Supplement. In 2009 he founded Open Cinema, now a group of social enterprises, which has launched 41 community cinemas in some of the most challenged areas in the UK and Ireland, and enabled production of 75 participatory and advocacy films. Open Cinema has won national and international awards for its work, and hosted a global retrospective of films made by homeless people for the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad. In 2012 Christoph was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. He is married with two children and lives in Sussex.
